Home-cooked meals in Normandy

We spent our last weekend in Normandy- it was truly wonderful!
Our BnB had a kitchen we were able to use so we decided to cook dinner there instead of going out to a restaurant. We found this really neat pasta at the local grocery store and we cooked it both evenings!

Potatoes

We bought a bunch of potatoes the other day.

Franz made: boiled potatoes (with a nob of butter) and two different sauces: tomato (lots of garlic!) and zucchini-ginger in white wine topped with parsley.

Visitor!

My sister Claire came by for a visit (awesome!) and we got a bunch of really nice and fresh vegetables from the market a few streets down. Here's the result!

Fresh artichokes (boiled in water with pepper and lemon slices) and a salad: romaine lettuce, carrots, tomato, feta cheese, apple, shallots, ginger with a mustard, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and honey dressing.

Bonjour, Paris!

It’s been three days since we arrived in Paris and we had our first visitor yesterday! My friend Alex came by and since it was her birthday, Franz prepared a birthday salad:

red oak leaf lettuce, a few sliced tomatoes, fennel, lemon zests, feta cheese, garlic croutons, and fresh parsley dressed with a crème fraîche, lemon, dijon mustard, balsamic vinegar and olive oil vinaigrette.

Alex brought éclairs for dessert! <3 they were gone before we could take a picture!

Good-bye Munich

Our last days in Munich.
My friend Markus and I composed a Japanese-inspired dinner:

Japanese rice with chili, black sesame, seaweed, and lemon.
Fried spring onion, ginger, garlic, chili, oyster mushrooms, carrots, and zucchini topped with white sesame and fresh coriander. Delicious! And a cool Augustiner beer…bliss.
(we fried the veggies in a bit of sunflower oil and deglazed the whole mixture with mirin and rice vinegar.)
